HI,
It is really helpful to know that much details about DG.

But the writer lacks writing ability as he repeats the same thing multiple times as looks like he is writing the book for non DBA background people. And explain very basic DBA concepts also multiple times examples: RTO & RPO.

As a DG concept writer, he should know the every DBA knows about RTO & RPO who is about to read about DG. Or other wise rename the book as DG for DUMMIES(Non DBA's).

I'm absolutely agree with your review.
This books is a really deep dive into Data Guard Administration. Every detail is clearly explained by authors based on their huge experience and illustrated with results of tests performed by Oracle Consulting team. Perfomance bottlenecks, implementation's caveats and other tricky subjects are also highlighted.
This year I'd visited Data Guard Administration Course (by Oracle University). That lections and labs were quite enough for quick start. However this book is highly recommended to read before deploying Data guard in production environment.
